Many years ago in the early days, a man named Robin was travelling through the thickest mountains. He had traveled several mileage and needed to have some rest. Whilst contemplating where he could lay his head for some days before proceeding, he saw a small cave in between the rocks belonging to the very distant part of a timeworn world.

Robin was glad in his heart and settled for the cave. There was a stream almost immediately after the rocks looking so calm and pure, quickly he approached the stream, filled his bottles, went back and sunk himself in the glacial water.

On the third day,  Robin was by the stream fetching some plants and nuts, he saw something dazzling inside the almost still water, it caught his fancy and approached, He found a diamond in the stream. Oh! this is pleasant Robin uttered and giggled, expressing amusement. After gathering all the nuts and plants he rooted out, he went back to the cave, kept the diamond in his bag and feasted on his grubs with delight. Robin had been gracing the cave for days and decided to continue on the journey.

The next day whilst on his way, he met a traveler who was hungry and Robin opened his bag to share his food. The hungry traveler saw the diamond in Robin’s bag and immediately asked Robin to give him the diamond and Robin did so without hesitation. The traveler left rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth giving him enough security for a life time.

But something unusual happened a few days after, the traveler went in search of Robin and returned the diamond. I’ve been thinking” said the traveller, i know how valuable the diamond is, but i give it back to you. I found it amazing that you gave it to me without holding back. I was hoping that you can give me something even more precious.

What can be more precious than a heart that gives. One that is ready to part with something precious. One that will not hesitate to give a stranger their prized possession.

The traveler realized Robin had more to offer than the diamond. He saw a clearer picture of a special quality in a person who can part with something precious even to a stranger. He recognized the act of giving.

We can learn from this, sometimes our motives are written all over our acts and read by all who come in contact with us. No matter how long one hides his/her attitude either good or bad, the truth behind one’s personalty prevails. It can’t be hidden! Give or receive a gift today at
